I remember when I first heard about building a personal brand for myself I thought that I would have to pretend to be something I am not. In fact that was a very wrong thing to assume and guess what? I later realised that building a personal brand had nothing to do with me at all. At the beginning of my business I tried a lot of things; the “get money quick” software, push button ones that promise the world, certain social media sites that were promising you would increase in size and followership, video sites that were created just for shares and money making schemes and the list goes on.
Even to the point where when I finally decided to focus on and tweak what I really wanted, I was still on every social media site you could imagine out there. Unfortunately that did not work or produce good results.

- You Have To Be An Expert: Unfortunately, most of us discredit ourselves so much that we are not able to even start building a personal brand for ourselves. You cannot be an expert at everything. It is simply not possible and you have to discredit that thought that you have to be a guru. All high earners online today are good at something specific. This means finding your niche and playing big there is the key. Find just the one thing you are good at and be good at it. Period!
- Only The HIGHLY Successful and Wealthy Entpreneurs Can Afford: Many believe that it is expensive to build a personal brand. Simply because they are looking only at the glamourous side of building a personal brand. The glossy logos, the beautiful colors, the photos and all that cool stuff. So long as you can get your message right, this step of creating brand images comes very easily. Its all about getting your core message right and sharing it with the world using your chosen strategy. For me my strategy for sharing my brand value is “blogging“. Which I believe is one of the best ways of branding because you are able to share your brand value very effectively. So focus on getting your core message out before you move on to any other thing.
- I Do Not Have Value to Share: This is “bull”. Do not believe it for a moment that you do not have value. Until you get this concept, no amount of branding will change your life. You may be bad at most things but once you believe in yourself that you are valuable, everything else falls in place. This is a mindset trick that you need to get right. Otherwise you are running a fruitless journey because you will ALWAYS snap back into your old ways. Do not believe for a moment that you are not valuable.
