The Only Excuse You Need to Use Small Business Blogs to Build Your Home or Small Business
If you are building your home business or small business the traditional way, you may want to pay attention to this post. There is a better and a more sustainable way of building your home business online using a small business blogs. It is important to note that although blogging is NOT the only way to get to build your business online however you need to blog. There are reasons for that.
In this post I want to share with you just a couple of reasons why you need small business blogs to build your business. It really does not matter the kind of industry you are. But first we need to look at some other sources, their pro’s and con’s, while comparing blogging. These are not just any other sources but sources that work for leads and making sales.
So let’s get started;
First lets look at the traditional methods but before we go ahead I will be relating these to active and passive marketing methods.
Cold Calling: Why is cold calling good or bad? This is a very active way of generating leads and making sales for business. You have to be fully engaged in the activity to get results. If you would have noticed as time goes on people are not wanting to answer the phone to people they do not know. This strategy has been overused and abused by a lot of businesses. Therefore, the rejection is high and very low results compared to the effort you put in. It’s just not worth it.
Pounding the Pavement: This is to say going from door-to-door knocking. This works also, however the moment you stop your lead flow stops and your sales drop. Not only is this off-putting to prospects (just think about someone knowcking on your door for sales just when you are about to have dinner. GRRRR!) in certain areas this type of selling is actually an offense. Communities and local governments are increasingly lobbying to make this event an illegal event.
Buying Leads: you also have the people that ‘swear by buying leads’. Do they work? Yes, they do but how long can you keep this up? Another question to you is this, don’t you think the vendor would have sold those leads to other home and small business owners like yourself? It is simply not sustainable long term.
How about some online strategies?
Paid Advertising of all kinds: g if you have purchased ads in the past you know one thing for sure. The moment you stop paying, your ads are QUICKLY removed by the vendor. It really does not matter how much you spent they never forget to turn it off – lol. To keep your running you MUST keep paying. Paid ads work but the idea about advertising is not to make more profit but to make more money to spend on more ads.
What about our favorite Social Media? – largest playing ground for network marketers
Well, you still have a similar problem. if you are posting about your business on your personal profile you run a risk of coming across as being “spammy”. If you are prospecting from social media you are actually back into cold calling and prospecting – only difference is you are online. The same ratios applies (sometimes even worse) the only difference is that you save time by doing it online. And with the new social media changes coming everyday home business owners are really at risk on social media.
What about Email Marketing?
Again very effective but nobody buys from a 2 year old mail but they buy from a two year old blog post. With ever increasing intelligent spam filters it is becoming increasingly difficult for marketers who want to save money in advertising costs.
Why Small Business Blogs?
I hope by now I have made a little bit more sense to you why you need a blog for your business. The point
is very simple, other ways work; they actually do. The problem is that most of these are not a leveraged way of working. How long will you pound the pavement for or make unsolicited phone calls to prospects. Blogging simply is a leveraged activity. People are always looking For information about your product or service online. As long as they come across your content, they will consider buying from you. This could be years after you have written your blog post about. This is a passive way of working but it guarantees your longevity in business. It may (notice I used the word may) take sometime for you to get results from small business blogs but when it starts getting you the results you are looking for it just works effortlessly. Blogging ensures you stay in business long enough without getting burned out.
